Homeowners
As a homeowner there will be several decisions you need to make after a wildfire, but first and foremost, it is important to make sure your home has been deemed safe for reentry by fire officials. Upon returning, remember, although the fire may be out, dangers may still be present.
Once you’ve taken the necessary safety precautions, you will want to contact your insurance to start a claim. Remember to wear personal protective equipment and document everything as you begin to assess the damage.
Consider downloading the Resident Recovery Guide Workbook for detailed information on the recovery process or purchasing Surviving Wildfire: Get Prepared, Stay Alive, Rebuild Your Life (A Handbook for Homeowners) by Linda Masterson.
